The California wildfires last month raged along its southern coast, destroying numerous properties in the process. Many people lost their homes in the blaze, including engaged couple Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth.
Speaking with Howard Stern on The Howard Stern Show Miley shared the story of how the Australian actor saved their 16 pets from the fire that destroyed their home.
“Liam, I’ve never loved him more for this,” Miley told Stern before detailing exactly how 28-year-old Liam saved their seven dogs, two mini horses, two regular-sized horses, two pigs and three cats.
“He got all the animals out in his truck. He put two pigs in crates, which I tell you is so hard … I said, ‘how did you get them out,’ and he said, ‘the only thing I could do was get a really powerful hose and spray them in the ass,’ so he just chased the pigs into a crate which was genius.”
Miley explained that Liam even chased down one of their cats, who had bolted to get away from the other animals in the car, so that no animal would be left behind.
The Nothing Breaks Like A Heart singer said that the experience shaped how she now views her relationship with Hemsworth, Miley telling Stern, “I call him my survival partner now and he thinks it’s not romantic but I learned that it is. That is why you pair up with someone, is for survival and he was so incredible.”
Along with their pets, the Hunger Games actor saved a laptop and their camera, but Miley lost the notebook where she penned most of her songs.
