Remember that scene in To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before where Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo) compliments Lara Jean Covey (Lana Condor) on her platform boots?
And then Lara Jean goes on to wear platform boots for the entire movie? Well, it turns out that this wasn’t just a style choice!
Speaking at the 2018 Vulture Festival in LA over the weekend, Lana revealed that the platform boots were necessary because the producers didn’t realise how tall Noah was compared to Lana until after they’d been cast in their roles!
“When we auditioned and chemistry read together, at the end of the chemistry read you have to stand next to the person you read with and you have to take a picture to show the producers the height difference,” she revealed.
“When we went into a camera test, after we’d already been cast, I didn’t make it into a frame with him, because he’s that much taller than me. I heard the producers were like, ‘What is happening?’”
Lana even went on to reveal that Noah also tried to appear shorter next to her.
“Later, Noah told me he would stand behind me and scrunch down to make himself look shorter,” she said with a laugh. “It’s sweet, that’s how much he wanted the job.”
And the easiest way for the costume designers to make the height difference less noticeable was for Lana to wear platform boots!
“Those shoes hold a special place in my heart,” Lana said.
Ours too, girl!
