Kat Von D has had a pretty massive year.
The tattoo artist married her partner Rafael Reyes in February this year. The couple then celebrated their marriage with a gothic ceremony in June.
And now, Kat has given birth to a baby boy!
The couple announced the birth of their son Leafar Von D Reyes on Instagram, with Kat writing an extended caption about the couple’s excitement over their son’s birth.
“Meet our beautiful baby boy, Leafar Von D Reyes. Thank you to all our beloved friends+family, fans+followers for your patience in us announcing his long awaited arrival! To be honest, my husband @prayers and I want to take the next 40 days [the 4th trimester] to focus on the baby and our amazing relationship transitioning into amazing parenthood — so, please excuse us if we’re not on here as much for a little while. Just know we love you all and thank you for all the words of love+support!”
The name ‘Leafar’ might seem like an unusual choice for their bubs name but Rafael actually goes by the name Leafar Seyer in his profession as an artist so it seems like little Leafar is actually named after his dad!
Earlier this year Kat caused a stir when she revealed that she wouldn’t be vaccinating her child in a now-deleted Insta post.
“I knew the minute we announced our pregnancy that we would be bombarded with unsolicited advice,” she wrote. “Some good and some questionable – unsolicited none the less. I also was prepared for the backlash and criticism we would get if we decided to be open about our personal approach to our pregnancy. My own Father flipped out on me when I told him we decided to ditch our doctor and go with a midwife instead. If you don’t know what it’s like have people around you think you are ridiculous, try being openly vegan. And, if you don’t know what it’s like to have the entire world openly criticize, judge, throw uninformed opinions, and curse you – try being an openly pregnant vegan on Instagram, having a natural, drug-free home birth in water with a midwife and doula, who has the intention of raising a vegan child, without vaccinations. My point being: I already know what it’s like to make life choices that are not the same as the majority. So your negative comments are not going influence my choices – actual research and educating myself will – which i am diligently doing.”
Congratulations to the happy fam!
