Prepare yourselves Riverdale fans.
Jughead (Cole Sprouse) will not be with Archie (KJ Apa), Veronica (Camila Mendes) and most importantly Betty (Lili Reinhart) for the hit Netflix show’s upcoming fourth season.

It was first reported at San Diego Comic-Con that Betty and Jughead’s relationship will be tested (something that has been happening in real life with their actor counterparts) but we were not ready for them to be so far apart!
Lili revealed the “distance will probably cause some stress.”
Cole eased fans worries though.”I think it might be a little bit tense. They might fall, turn away from each other, only to come back together way stronger. I think they’re gonna be really good” said the Five Feet Apart actor.

Jughead (Cole Sprouse) will be receiving a scholarship in the new season and will attend an “upper-crust prep school” meaning he will not be at Riverdale High at all.
The news was revealed when TVLine learned that former Smallville and Supergirl star Sam Witwer will be playing a new teacher at the unnamed prep school.

“Handsome, bookish and cool, Mr. Chipping teaches creative writing at a prestigious prep school near Riverdale. He recruits Jughead for his seminar, and while he’s eminently inspiring to his students, there’s a darkness hidden far beneath the surface” revealed The CW.
Cole told ET at SDCC that Jughead will “only [be] back in Riverdale on the weekends.”
