Joey King’s new film is a little bit different to the rom-com shenanigans of The Kissing Booth saga. She’s about to become a literal assassin.
According to Deadline, the Netflix star just landed a lead role in a new film co-starring Brad Pitt, and as an assassin (badass, Joey!).
Bullet Train is a new action film directed by Deadpool 2 and Atomic Blonde director David Leitch. Not much is known about the upcoming flick except that it’s based on a Japanese novel called “Maria Beetle,” and stars King, Pitt and two others as competing assassins.
“Plot details are vague,” the Deadline report adds. “According to sources, King plays one of four leads opposite Pitt; King is believed to be the only woman in the group.”
As the report continues, Bullet Train marks Joey’s most action-heavy role to date, and could lead her to do more roles like it in the future. The same thing happened for Emily Blunt after filming The Edge of Tomorrow and Scarlett Johansson after Iron Man 2, and, even, Girlfriend fave Lana Condor after X-Men: Apocalypse, Alita: Battle Angel and the TV series Deadly Class.
It’s unclear when the film will release, especially in the wake of spiked cases of COVID-19 in California. But, according to Deadline, “the film has been moving at light speed since Leitch attached himself last month,” and is planning to start filming in the Fall (well, our Spring time).
Congrats Joey!
