Jacob Elordi worried about taking his part in ‘The Kissing Booth’

"Am I murdering this thing that I love?"

It’s a fact pretty universally known, that Jacob Elordi has mixed feelings about his Netflix movie franchise (and global phenomenon) The Kissing Booth. In case you’ve somehow missed it, Elordi has spoken a number of times about how, even though it was pretty much rocket-fuel for his acting career, he doesn’t necessarily love being in The Kissing Booth. In fact, some people speculate that he may hate it. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Elordi did some more pondering about the role that has made him something of a teen obsession.

“I’m a purist and love the movie theatre,” explained Elordi, when talking about why he was initially reluctant to enter into the series with Netflix. “I had this weird moral battle of ‘What am I aiding and abetting? Am I the face of this robotic, terrifying new age? Am I murdering this thing that I love?’” he mused. Ultimately, getting a foot in the door of the acting world was a key driver behind his decision to do The Kissing Booth“But there was this mentality of, ‘I’ll do whatever the f**k I’ve got to do to get to the United States and do what I love.’”

Hoo boy, we wonder how Netflix felt about Elordi’s assessment of the rise of streaming services as a “robotic, terrifying new age”? We’re sure it’s all good considering he did sign on to do the third Kissing Booth movie, after all. Btw, we just got an update on when we can expect The Kissing Booth 3 from Elordi’s ex-girlfriend and co-star Joey King.

Elordi also reiterated in the interview that he wasn’t miserable when filming The Kissing Booth 2. “Noah is a moody dude, you know? He’s a moody guy. He’s not running around [super happy]. I wasn’t miserable, I was tired but not miserable. I had a blast.” We’re happy to hear it!

If you’re not quite sure if you can wait until The Kissing Booth 3 comes out for your next Elordi fix, you’re in luck. His next film 2 Hearts sees him return to playing a college jock and we’re getting two new ‘bridge’ episodes of Euphoria reaaaallly soon.
