Fun turned to terror on the South African set of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Outta Here today, when a highly venomous snake invaded the camp.

The sighting of the Mozambican spitting cobra necessitated an evacuation of staff and camp mates from the area, with the species considered dangerous enough to halt filming.

Angie and Yvie were ordered out of camp after the snake appeared behind a sleeping Angie’s bed. The reptile is widely considered one of the most deadly snakes in Africa.

A producer made an announcement to the startled pair, who were directed to leave immediately. An extensive search was made of the all hiding places, but the reptile was apparently not located.

The spitting cobra is famed for its ability to project deadly venom from its fangs without needing to bite victims.

The stars’ camp has been invaded by snakes in the past, and is known for visits by sometimes aggressive monkeys, who urinate from trees in displays of territoriality.
