While he kept tight-lipped on everything V-Wars he revealed the series is now in post-production and hopes TVD fans fall in love with it. He also pleaded them to watch the season in full and spread the word amongst their friends in hopes that Netflix grants the show a second season.

In the upcoming series, Somerhalder plays Luther Swann, a doctor who gets caught in the middle of a mysterious and scary new outbreak that starts turning people into vampires.

Answering questions in an intimate panel with fans, Somerhalder went on to share that his all-time favourite episode of The Vampire Diaries is episode five from the very first season where Damon gets “high as shit” on blood and does the Damon dance. #ICONIC

One fan questioned if he would have liked to play anyone else in the series but alas, he wouldn’t have had it any other way and was over the moon that he got to play the ‘badass’ Salvatore brother.

Ian also went on to question just why we shipped Damon and Elena as an item, pointing out the fact that he is a savage 100 year+ vampire dating a teenager. “That shit is illegal, y’all!” he joked.

As for who he still keeps in touch with from the series he revealed that he and wife Nikki Reed still hang out with Stefan, aka Paul Wesley and sometimes still run into the lovely Nina Dobrev (Elena/Katherine).

Fingers crossed we get to see them together again in Legacies or potentially on V-Wars!
