If you’re a so totally here for Cheryl and Toni’s relationship in Riverdale, then this one’s for you babe.
Fans have picked up on a major easter egg in the show that confirms the cutest thing ever about their relationship, and it’s been confirmed by them to be true!
It all started back in season one, when Polly Cooper was pregnant with the twins. When she went to meet the Blossom’s at Pop’s (and only Cheryl turned up), she was wearing a sheer, floral long-sleeve shirt.
Fast forward to season 2 episode 15, when Cheryl brings Toni to the Blossom’s will reading. Toni is wearing that same floral top.
After picking up on that, fans started noticing that it wasn’t the first time they’ve shared clothes. And this is where it gets great!
Both Toni and Cheryl have worn Toni’s black lace-up pants.
During a LIVE special talking to Madelaine Petsch, a fan asked the following: “Please ask her to confirm if Cheryl was wearing Toni’s pants at the end of 2×17 and if this implies that she slept over after they rescued her from the nuns – basically any back story about what happened after the rescue mission.”
“You guys are totally on it! I am very impressed that you guys figured that out,” Madelaine confirmed during a live episode of Sweetwater Secrets. “Yes, after being rescued from the nuns, obviously, she did not go back to Thistlehouse, so Toni took her in.”
She then added, “For the next, like, [few episodes] 17 and 18, Cheryl is wearing only Toni’s clothing because she’s staying at Toni’s. We don’t really talk about it at all, but it’s nice that you guys notice those things.”
YAS girls.
Aside from that very subtle point, fans have been pretty annoyed with how #Choni has been portrayed on the screen. Like how two of their important scenes were cut from the musical episode, including the crucial moment Cheryl calls Toni her girlfriend.
Not cool.
What IS cool is that there will be plenty more moments between the two to come!
