Eminem is pretty used to making controversial statements, but his latest one has left a really bad taste in peoples mouths.
Releasing an eleven-minute freestyle rap titled “Kick Off” as part of his rap-battle satire BODIED, the rap god threw out a line about the Manchester Attack at Ariana Grande’s concert in 2017.
“I’ve always looked at battle rap as competition or war,” Eminem begins.
“And the main objective is to destroy, complete fuckin’ obliterate your opponent, by saying anything and everything, whatever the f*ck you can, to get a reaction from the crowd. So nothing’s off limits.”
His first verse then goes into the attack: “Seeing Ariana Grande sing her last song of the evening/ And as the audience from the damn concert is leaving, detonates the device strapped to his abdominal region/ I’m not gonna finish that for obvious reasons.”
Yikes.
In another random verse, he describes how Justin Bieber is a drug dealer…: “Justin Bieber in a Catholic school / Selling dust and reefer when your back is to him / Don’t adjust your speaker”
He’s been copping a lot of backlash online from his rap, but there are also a lot of people defending him.
Drama.
