Disney has finally unveiled just who will play Ariel in the upcoming live-action version of The Little Mermaid.

R&B Chloe X Halle member Halle Bailey has officially been cast to take on the role of the iconic 1989 Disney film.
According to insiders, she has been director Rob Marshall’s favourite for the part since the beginning.
Rob said in an official statement: “After an extensive search, it was abundantly clear that Halle possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence, and substance — plus a glorious singing voice — all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role.”
This marks the third member to be cast in the live-action reimagining with Jacob Tremblay and Awkwafina already on board.
Rumours have also been swelling that Melissa McCarthy will take on the role of villainess Ursula.

In case you aren’t familiar with her music gal group Chloe x Halle here is a little background info.
The 19-year-old actress and singer formed the duo with sister Chloe back in 2015 and was discovered by Beyoncé after they posted stunning covers of Queen B’s hit songs on YouTube.
Soon after the pair signed a record deal with her self-owned label Parkwood Entertainment and even opened for The Lion King star’s ” “Lemonade” tour!
