Apart from her seriously sick music, Billie Eilish is well known for her sense of style.
Billie lives in baggy pants and T-shirts and she’s a fan of seriously colourful and amazingly quirky outfits. Basically, she always looks cool.
But in a recent video with Calvin Klein, the 17-year-old addressed why she prefers wearing oversized clothes.
“I never want the world to know everything about me,” Billie said. “I mean that’s why I wear big, baggy clothes. Nobody can have an opinion because they haven’t seen what’s underneath. Nobody can be like, ‘Oh, she’s slim-thick, she’s not slim-thick, she’s got a flat ass, she’s got a fat ass.’ No one can say any of that because they don’t know.”
It’s sad that this young woman actively chooses clothing that will ultimately prevent body shaming, which says a lot about the commentary around women’s bodies. But we totally understand the thought process behind it.
And, Billie is pretty sick of people questioning her clothing choices.
“If I was a guy and I was wearing these baggy clothes, nobody would bat an eye,” she told NME. “There’s people out there saying, ‘Dress like a girl for once! Wear tight clothes you’d be much prettier and your career would be so much better!’ Not it wouldn’t. It literally would not.”
