We LOVE a good Disney plot twist, and this Beauty and the Beast one could not have arrived on our news feeds at a better time! Eagle eyed fans have spotted links to another popular Disney cartoon in the live-action movie, proving they’re set in the same universe. Enter Hunchback of Notre Dame!
Probs one of the most underrated Disney flicks, the Hunchback of Notre Dame is also set in Patis and in the new live-action version (soz if you haven’t seen it SPOILERS!) a magic book takes Belle and the Beast to her childhood home, also in Paris, and we can see the Notre Dame Cathedral. This confirms that they’re set at least in the same era and since we know nothing is by accident with Disney, we’re guessing it’s included in the backdrop for a reason…
Now cast your mind back to the OG Hunchback cartoon and we get proof that the universes overlap somehow. In this street scene we see a brunette wearing blue wandering the street with HER NOSE STUCK IN A BOOK!
Yeahhh that’s Belle alright! We’re not sure ~how~ the movies fit together but where there’s one easter egg, Disney is waiting to drop 10 more!
