Yesterday, we reported that Californian officials claimed that Glee star Naya Rivera was missing and presumed dead. In a horrifying account, officials said her four year old son, Josey, was found alone on a boat, allegedly by himself for three to four hours. Rivera and her son were reportedly boating on a lake in California.
Nearly 24 hours since, Ventura County’s Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Kevin Donoghue said that Rivera’s body may never be recovered.
It’s incredibly heartbreaking and sad, and the story is still developing. As acts of hope, her friends and co-stars are praying for her safe return.
Heather Morris, who played Rivera’s on and off screen girlfriend Brittany Pierce on the beloved musical comedy series Glee, shared a message on her Instagram Story, saying “we need all the prayers we can get to bring our Naya back home to us. We need your love and light.”
Then, in a tweet, she thanked the police for “working tirelessly right now in the search and recovery of our Naya.”
Chord Overstreet, who played Sam Evans on the show, reminded us all to “love and hug the people you can, while you can. I love you. Everyone please send out your prayers.”
Iqbal Theba, who starred as Glee’s Principal Figgins and Uncle Aravind on Netflix’s Never Have I Ever, is “hoping against hope [that] this was all a big joke and she’ll appear from somewhere laughing her heart out.”
Others, including Tiffany Haddish and other Glee co-stars like Alex Newell and Kristen Chenoweth have prayed and hoped for her to safely return.
When news broke that Rivera was missing, Josey’s father and Rivera’s ex, Ryan Dorsey, rushed to the scene, according to Dorsey’s housemate via The Daily Mail.
“Ryan headed up there as soon as their son was found to look after him,“ he said. “He was gone by the time I got home Wednesday.”
“Naya has been in LA working but I don’t know where she has been living. None of us know any more than what is being reported at this time. Naya hadn’t been in contact with him. She didn’t tell him what she was doing. He had no idea. It’s a horrible circumstance and we’re hoping for the best.”
Again, our thoughts and prayers are with Naya Rivera, her friends and family.
