During the COVID-19 pandemic’s self-isolation period, celebrities have undergone some pretty dramatic physical transformations. Over the last few weeks, we’ve had Mr. Hairy Styles, Millie Bobby Brown’s matching hair extensions with her dog, and Kim Kardashian’s cute new red hair, just to name a few. But none of them have been as dramatic, as shocking and given me as much of an out of body experience quite like Riverdale’s KJ Apa and his quarantine beard.
Fair warning, folks, it’s about to get real steamy up in here.
On the 14th of June, KJ Apa shared a photo of a man with a lot of scruff, thick wild hair and sunglasses, with the caption, “how good are these sunnies!!!” We, like many of you, assumed this was of a friend of Apa’s because of his quarantine beard.
But, on Tuesday, the Kiwi actor dropped a selfie on Instagram. A simple and sexy low angle shot of him (a classic ‘KJ Apa’ pose, if we’re honest) but with a twist: a thick bush slapped across his face. Little did we know, his quarantine beard era was only about to begin.
Not only does he look unrecognisable with it, but he looks a bit like Archie’s dad, played by the late Luke Perry. And no, it’s not raining, we’re all crying right now from that little realisation.
Is this really the same boy who fought a bear in season three? The very same hot ginger babe who washed a car shirtless in season four? Apparently so.
This week, the Riverdale star also shared a post celebrating co-star and on-screen girlfriend Camila Mendes’s birthday, only to, well… misspell her name. It’s the thought that counts, we guess.
Anyway, we are so here for KJ Apa’s beard and look forward to seeing more of it. Maybe in season 5, Archie goes missing and returns from an island getaway with it?
