One of Australia’s most socially conscious streetwear brands, HoMie, has just collaborated with Disney for their 90s inspired collection, which features some of the movie giant’s most iconic characters.

The range – called HoMie and Friends – is a joyful vibe with depth. Why? Because the brand genuinely fulfils its ethical certification by donating 100 per cent of its profits towards its mission to support young people affected by homelessness or hardship.
Since the brand’s inception in 2015, they have kept their promise and have done wonderful things for their community in Melbourne. Also, their designs are gender-neutral, designed and printed in Melbourne, and their sizes range from XS to 3XL. With so many brands making empty declarations, it’s a relief to see a company that is genuinely in the pursuit of ethical fashion.
Their collaboration with Disney is their most vibrant, playful, and nostalgic to date, and with 18 pieces including socks, t-shirts, shorts, and their famous hoodies, you’ll want to be decked out in the collab from head to toe to light up rooms with warm smiles.
The range drops on their website on the 16th of November, right in the sweet spot for Christmas shopping – and considering HoMie’s clothes are made for everyone in mind, it’s a safe bet for any of your siblings and friends.
Because we are absolutely besotted by their Mickey Tee, Minnie Socks, and important work, we spoke to HoMie’s co-founder and creative director, Marcus Crook, about the collab.

So how does an indie Aussie brand get in contact with Disney? Well, it turns out it’s true when they say you never know until you try, because Marcus took it upon himself to reach out to the company’s General Manager, and the rest is history.
“It’s since resulted in an authentic, long-term partnership in which the Disney team have been able to contribute to our impact programs through workshops with our young people and more,” he reveals.
Their steadfast approach to their mission, teams, program and Australian youth is built on positivity, which they infuse inside the fabric of their pieces in a literal and figurative sense.
As a result, the happiness elicited from this project isn’t an accident.
“It felt like a natural fit given Disney brings a sense of positivity to every household and is known for creating such nice memories through film, characters etc,” explains Marcus. “The vintage graphics and iconic characters also meant we were able to be a bit more playful with our designs, highlighting friendship and nostalgia with a hint of the 90s.”
In a world where ‘sustainability’ and ‘ethical’ have become buzzwords, it’s hard to know when a company alters the truth for financial gains. But HoMie prides itself on transparency and is very open about how they ensure 100 per cent of profits go to young people affected by homelessness.

To achieve their goals, they have set up two programs called HoMie Pathway Alliance and VIP Days to help young people impacted by hardship learn skills, gain confidence and experience to enter the workforce.
“Profits and funding go towards developing and growing our program each year, and of course, supporting more young people!
“This involves paid work experience, retail education and training, professional development and more,” he tells Girlfriend.
In the spirit of HoMie, consider shopping Australian to support our independent brands that have a direct impact on our lives and peers, especially in the wake of a tough two years.
“Supporting local brands and creatives means bolstering the industry, creating employment opportunities, and helps provide more opportunities for young people across all aspects of the fashion industry,” encourages Marcus.
