Sneakers, or more specifically Dad Sneakers, have been having a major moment this past year. From Balenciaga’s high-end version to Nike’s high street, the athleisure trend has taken over, so it’s no wonder that a sneaker has been named 2018’s Shoe of the Year.
Footwear News, a publication dedicated to all things shoes, announced the winners of its 2018 Achievement Awards winners yesterday and taking out the top spot were affordable It sneakers, Fila Disruptor II.
Given that the sneaker ticks off both the retro and dad sneaker trend, is a favourite amongst celebrities, influencers and bloggers and is both comfortable and affordable, it’s no wonder it’s almost constantly sold out – or that it took out Shoe of the Year.
