But over in the US, where the seasons are flipped, celebs have been adding a new accessory to their outfits. You guessed it – baseball and trucker caps.

They’ve become a favourite add-on for the ‘model off duty’ look stars like Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber are famous for rocking.

Not only does a cap spice up your style, it can also offer sun protection in Australia’s blazing summer heat. Sounds like a win-win to us.

Of course, embracing this on-trend accessory isn’t as simple as grabbing whatever cap you have lying around and tossing it on. We’ve done a deep dive into the celebs at the forefront of the cap trend to see exactly how to style the hats.

Plus, we’ve found a bunch of dupes for the chic hats stars like Dua Lipa, Lana Condor and (of course) Kendall Jenner are rocking.

What to look for in a trendy cap

Stars like Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner have been adding colourful trucker caps to their summer outfits, while Lana Condor has been seen in cute baseball caps.

So, what’s the difference between the two?

Well, a baseball cap is your standard brimmed cap made out of a sturdy material that’s the same all over the cap. Trucker caps, on the other hand, have a mesh fabric at the back of the hat that make them a little cooler and edgier.

You can style them both in similar ways, but most celebs who have been spotted in the trucker style choose to wear them backwards to show off the mesh panels.

Take a few tips from these celebs when buying your own cap and opt for styles in bright, summery colours or with cute, Y2K-inspired designs on the front.

You can also opt for the nostalgic ‘dad hat’ vibe that Lana and Hailey sometimes rock by wearing caps in one colour, with a simple graphic on the front.

How to style a cap like a celeb

As for what to wear your cap with – well, according to these celebs, you can pair one with pretty much any outfit.

Hailey has been seen pairing a bright green trucker cap with a basic pair of blue jeans and a white crop top for the warmer weather. When it cools down, she opts for a baseball cap in a contrasting yellow to add a pop of colour to her green jeans and heavy flanno.

But don’t get it twisted, caps can be worn with girly outfits too.

Dua lipa paired a cute frog cap with an all-green ensemble that featured a sheer mesh blouse over a dainty lace bra. Expect to see more outfits like this as spring trends hit here in Australia!

Our favourite ways to style caps are to either amp up the tomboy aesthetic, or embrace the summer vibes.

To go full tomboy, pairing a backwards trucker cap with a basic crop or open button-down, loose jeans or shorts and a pair of chunky sneakers.

If you’re in more of a feminine summer mood, pair a cap with a cute bikini and a sheer dress, or a bralette top and high waisted skirt.
