Riverdale star Vanessa Morgan’s husband, Chicago White Sox pitcher Michael Kopech, has filed for divorce, just days after she announced she was pregnant.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Kopech filed for a divorce on the 19th June in northeast Texas, where he grew up. The case was sealed on Monday, and no hearing date is currently scheduled.
Just last Friday, Morgan revealed she was pregnant with a baby boy in an adorable Instagram post announcing the news. Interestingly, while she held a gender reveal party, Kopech was not seen in any of the photos of the event nor was mentioned in the caption.
“I am overjoyed to be welcoming my baby boy into the world this January,” she wrote at the time. “It’s almost like everything I thought mattered in this life has completely changed… We’re here for such a greater purpose and life is so precious.”
A representative for Morgan told Chicago Tribune that Kopech is the father but declined to comment about their current relationship. Apparently, the outlet’s attempts to reach the father of Morgan’s soon-to-be child were “unsuccessful.”
Morgan, 28, and Kopech, 24, tied the knot back in January at their “fairytale dream” wedding at the Historic Walton House south of Miami. Kopech proposed to Morgan in July 2019 in front of a waterfall in Arizona.
The couple last shared a picture together over on Morgan’s Instagram on the 30th of April to celebrate Kopech’s 24th birthday.
