The music industry… sorry, we mean Taylor Swift… has been consuming the media at the moment and we’re absolutely not mad about it. Her recent re-release of her 2012 album Red has received plenty of praise, in particular the much-anticipated 10-minute version of fan-favourite track All Too Well… which ironically never fails to leave us all too emotionally unwell.

Now, the tune has garnered the 31-year-old a new Billboard accolade, breaking a record that had been held for almost half a century.

That’s right, Taylor has made history (again) as the 10-minute version of All Too Well went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100. It is the longest song ever to do so, beating out Don McLean’s American Pie (Parts I & II) which comes in at 8 minutes, 37 seconds and held the post since January 1972.

Revelling in the accomplishment, the singer-songwriter reacted to the news via multiple social platforms

“I’m so proud of this song and the memories I have with you guys because of it. You truly chose this one and now you did THIS?! I’m floored. A ten minute song is at the top of the Hot 100,” she tweeted.

Taylor also took to TikTok to share her gratitude for her fans, lip syncing to a sound of a baby saying “what the hell” in front of a green screen displaying the news.

All Too Well has had a chokehold on Swifties since its release, with the hype only growing over the years. So, when Taylor announced she was dropping the original 10-minute version of the song, fans understandably freaked out.

THEN blondie decided to send us into even more of a frenzy by releasing an accompanying music video starring actors Dylan O’Brien, 30, and Sadie Sink, 19.

While you may understandably be questioning the age difference between the two stars, fans have suggested the gap is meant to reflect the difference in age between Taylor and actor Jake Gyllenhaal during their short-lived romance.

After all, the song is heavily rumoured to be about him.

Taylor and Jake reportedly started dating around October 2012. The pair were spotted together in public a few times – the most notable instance being their time in Brooklyn when the musician spent the day with Jake’s family.

Despite Jake’s sister Maggie telling Us Weekly that the day went “great”, Jake and Taylor ended things after around three months of dating.

“He said he wasn’t feeling it anymore and was uncomfortable with all the attention they got,” a source said, according to Huff Post. “He also said he could feel the age difference.” (At the time, Taylor was 21 while Jake was 29).

Despite Taylor never confirming that the song is about Jake, once telling Entertainment Weekly that she “write(s) in great detail about (her) personal life, but do(esn’t) talk about it,” Swifties are adamant that ATW refers to her time with the Brokeback Mountain star.

In particular, the line “I left my scarf there at your sister’s house. And you’ve still got it in your drawer even now” is believed to be referring to Taylor’s time at Maggie’s house.

When the 10-minute version dropped, fans were also greeted with other lines that hinted towards the song being inspired by Jake, including references to their age gap.

From the line: “You said if we had been closer in age maybe it would have been fine / And that made me want to die”, to “And I was never good at telling jokes but the punch line goes / I’ll get older but your lovers stay my age,” fans have never been more convinced that the tune is referencing her time with Jake, 40, who is currently reportedly dating 25-year-old French model, Jeanne Cadieu.

There was even a reference to Brooklyn… not to mention all the Easter Eggs in the music video. Blondie really doesn’t miss a single detail, and we love her for that.
