Look, we probably should have expected this. Given how many celebrity hair transformations we’ve seen this year it was only a matter of time before the experiments with facial hair began. And there may be no more divisive grooming situation than what’s going on around Noah Centineo’s mouth. In a series of selfies, the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before actor has shared a new look: the seedy moustache.
This may be the strongest effort to divide—or disgust, YMMV—a fanbase we’ve seen from a male actor yet. Honourable mentions to Cole Sprouse’s patchy goatee and Armie Hammer’s muttonchop sideburns.
The selfie featured Centineo—shirtless again—rocking a pair of wired Apple headphones, a silver chain à la Connell from Normal People and a thin, bedraggled strip of hair above his lip.
Always the comedian, Centineo captioned the pic: “Day whatever and I’ve already lost track of how many days I’ve been alone. @lanacondor you doing alright?” Lana Condor, his To All The Boys co-star wrote back, “Well I just finished up a riveting convo with the birds on my balcony.”
We know they’re exaggerating a little bit though. Both actors have been supporting mental health awareness during COVID-19, taking part in the Netflix IG mental health series Wanna Talk About It.
On top of that, they both recently took part in a charity live stream event to benefit the Black Lives Matter movement. The stream was hosted by Centineo’s own organisation, Favoured Nations. Along with a sneak peek from the upcoming third film To All The Boys film, they were also be joined by Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors, Paine the Poet, and activist Nupol Kiazolu.
“It’s a cause that I fully and wholeheartedly believe in,” Condor explained. “Just seeing how motivated and inspired you’ve been and how tenacious you’ve been to make this work […] has been really awesome and inspiring,” Condor said to Centineo.
