Miley Cyrus and Australian Cody Simpson have reportedly broken up… just as Cody told the world he was “in love with his best friend.”
According to TMZ, sources close to the couple say they split within the last few weeks. As of right now, it’s unclear exactly what led to the breakup. It’s definitely come as a surprise: earlier this month, Cody shared a photo of him and Miley that had us screaming couple goals.
And, earlier this year, the pair had a bunch of cute moments together as a couple. First, Miley put her now ex-boyfriend in drag for the music video to his song, “Captain’s Dance With The Devil.” Then, the former couple shared matching mohawks and did a series of viral TikTok dances together.
So, needless to say, this news kinda blows. After Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart’s breakup, Cara Delevigne and Ashley Benson’s split, no couple that existed before 2020 is safe. Our only hopes are Tom Holland and his new girlfriend.
Miley and Cody first started dating back in October 2019. As TMZ added, Cody took care of Miley in November when she underwent vocal cord surgery, and the pair got matching tattoos in March. Prior to dating Cody, Miley was seeing Kaitlynn Carter and before that, was married to Liam Hemsworth, whom she divorced in August 2019.
Back in 2012, the “Pretty Brown Eyes” singer told Fuse that “Miley Cyrus has always been my childhood crush.”
“I knew all the words to her song—I’m not gonna lie. I’m not ashamed about it at all. I was a big Miley Cyrus fan. I think she will be—forever—the most dateable Disney star.”
