When you’re part of one of the biggest movie franchises on the planet, you’re gonna get a lot of attention. The Kissing Booth‘s leading gal Joey King has, for the most part, enjoyed the good vibes that coming her way now that the second film, The Kissing Booth 2, has finally made its debut on Netflix. (Girlfriend caught up with King to mark the occasion!) Unfortunately, there’s always someone with nothing nice to say who hasn’t learnt to simply… be quiet.
While most people who watched The Kissing Booth 2 have been busy debating whether they’re #TeamMarco or #TeamNoah, a number of Twitter users decided to take aim at King’s appearance. While her fans immediately rushed to her defence to shut down the remarks, it does appear that some of them may have reached King.
And this Valentino (socially distanced) home photoshoot? Perhaps the perfect response to online trolls we’ve seen all year. The look in question was from a virtual Fan Fest event, in which King delivered the exciting news that yes, a third Kissing Booth movie is confirmed.
King looks *aggressively* good in these photos. The sultry cat-eye makeup with casually touseled bombshell hair? Stunning. The Valentino two-piece styled with sheer stockings and a bra peeking out? Such a vibe. The bronze accessories? Incred. King captioned the post, “@ My twitter haters.” We love to see it.
Look, in an ideal world, we could divorce ourselves completely from controlling patriarchal beauty standards and women would be free to exist without being scrutinised for their appearance.
Until that happens though, King is playing the game and she’s winning.
