The last few months of isolation have been prime time for nostalgic rewatching of TV and films we used to love. Demi Lovato’s taken it one step further and is rewatching her old Disney channel flick, none other than Camp Rock. Not only that, but she’s also posted her live reactions with her boyfriend, Max Erich, on her Instagram.
And uhhhh, wow some things do not age so gracefully. This movie is certified low-key cringe. If your memory is a lil hazy, allow us to take you back (a whole 12 years back). Camp Rock follows teenage girl Mitchie, played ofc by Lovato, who gets into an exclusive music summer camp. Feeling out of place, she makes up stories about herself to fit in. Never a wise move in the longterm, which ofc makes up the drama of the film.
As well as Lovato, the film also stars a very baby Jonas brothers trio and Alyson Stoner. While most of Lovato and her BF’s reactions on IG pretty much just consist of them laughing uncontrollably at the film, the former Disney star also shared some specific commentary.
“It’s crazy when I watch this now I see @maddelagarza,” she wrote in one IG story, referring to her similarity to her younger half-sister, Madison De La Garza. In a scene with Stoner’s character she cringed and wrote, “The amount of awkward f*cking things I did in this movie… I can’t.”
And who could forget when parachutes carrying Graham Crackers (?!) descended from the sky during a performance. “What is this, the f*cking Hunger Games?” laughed Lovato.
It wasn’t all self-deprecating though: when it got to the big number “Our Time Is Here,” Lovato actually joked it still slapped. “This sh*t still slaps, not gonna lie.”
Meanwhile, on Twitter, fans started watching Lovato watch herself, with a lot of joy. “Never thought I’d be witnessing Demi Lovato reacting to herself being on Camp Rock 12 years later but here we are and I’m enjoying it,” wrote one fan.
As for Lovato’s BF Ehrich? Nothing but support from him according to Lovato’s IG stories. In fact, after being shocked at the ending of the second film, he even turned to Lovato and said, “Guess you gotta make a third movie.” After the year we’ve had, Camp Rock 3, doesn’t even sound like a wild concept.
