Chrissy Teigen just blocked over a million people on Twitter because she’s worried for her family

She also deleted 60,000 old tweets.

Chrissy Teigen’s social media presence is pretty much one of the purest joys the internet has ever brought us.

Her self-deprecating, quick-witted humour keeps us coming back to Twitter and her IG is all just wholesome food, cute pics of her kids and husband John Legend.

Unfortunately, the model and author is dealing with a flood of people who aren’t just here for the pictures of her boob cake. In a series of tweets earlier this week, Teigen revealed that she’s blocked over a million Twitter users and deleted 60,000 tweets because of trolling and abuse on the platform.

Why did all of this kick-off? Well, it’s actually been happening for a while. Since October last year, conspiracy theorists and trolls have been attempting to link Teigen to the convicted paedophile and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. While Epstein was found dead before his trial, which was set for mid-2020, but the case has kicked off again because of the arrest his former girlfriend and longtime confidant Ghislaine Maxwell.

She went on to explain that she’s blocked over one million people on Twitter and is still flooded with “sick psychopaths,” and told people to spare her the common “just ignore them, they’re just trolls,” advice. This actually probably requires a decent amount of effort, because there’s no easy way to mass block people using Twitter alone. (Teigen likely used an extension.)

In terms of the specific accusations themselves, for the past week, Teigen has been dealing with people claiming that she travelled on Epstein’s private plane. She replied to one such comment at the time saying, “if we wanna play with your lie just for fun, do you understand that if I were on a flight for the date of his “manifest”, I’d be a victim.” People are also claiming that she was a part of an inner circle of people involved in the abuse of underage girls.

After weeks of hounding, it seems like Teigen is done with trying to deal with online abuse. She explained she’d do her best not to entertain trolls anymore and thanked American journalist Yashar Ali for his support of her.
