Anya Josephine Marie Taylor-Joy was born on April 16, 1996, making her 25 years old and an Aries.

Her father, Dennis Alan Taylor, is an Argentine of Scottish descent, while her mum, Jennifer Marina Joy, was born in Zambia and is of English and Spanish descent. Anya is the youngest of six siblings.

When she was 16, the model dropped out of school to pursue acting.

In 2017, the actress told the Evening Standard that when she was younger, she felt as though she didn’t fit in anywhere. “I was too English to be Argentine, too Argentine to be English, too American to be anything.”

She also explained that her accent changes depending on where she is in the world. “It’s really difficult for my personal life, but for acting it’s awesome.”

What has Anya Taylor-Joy been in?

Originally scouted for modelling, Anya’s first acting gigs came in 2014 and involved small roles in Vampire Academy and Endeavour.

She eventually made her film debut in The Witch, before going onto star in the TV series Atlantis, psychological thriller Split, Netflix’s Peaky Blinders, Jane Austen’s Emma (2020) and, perhaps most notably, period drama miniseries The Queen’s Gambit.

What’s more, the actress just shared the new trailer for Robert Eggers’ The Northman which she is starring in alongside Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, Björk, and Alexander and Bill Skarsgård (yes, the dude who played Pennywise). It’s expected to hit screens in April next year.

The LA Times also recently revealed just how booked and busy Anya is over the next few years when it comes to acting gigs.

“Her schedule is booked solid for the next 2½ years, starting soon with The Menu, a dark comedy set in the world of exotic culinary culture directed by Mark Mylod (“Succession”) and then moving next year to Furiosa, George Miller’s prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road,” the publication wrote.

“After that, she’ll reunite with Queen’s Gambit writer-director Scott Frank for the thriller Laughter in the Dark and Eggers again in a reworking of the vampire classic Nosferatu.”

It’s clear that Anya can’t get enough of her job, with the Golden Globe winner telling the Evening Standard that “acting saved (her) life”.

“When I first started acting, people were quite worried for me. They were like: ‘What kind of world are you going into?’ I was like, ‘Are you kidding?’ I love what I do so much that you can’t not eat, you can’t hurt yourself, you can’t, you know, do whatever. I loved it so much. Acting saved my life.”

Who is Anya Taylor Joy dating?

Anya has remained tight-lipped when it comes to her dating life. However, back in May this year, the actress was spotted kissing 27-year-old musician Malcolm McRae in New York City ahead of her Saturday Night Live hosting gig.

The pair were apparently seen holding hands and sharing a few kisses while walking around the city, according to Page Six.

In 2018, Anya told The Guardian that she thinks “there’s a beauty in being anonymous”.

“There’s a reason why we’re actors, we’re playing other people, so I think the idea of someone being interested in me — I’m quite a private person — is a bit daunting, but I try not to think about it.”
