TikTok’s Addison Rae probably has one of the most-watched bodies on the planet. The dancer and social media star has over 55 million followers on the app, recently launched a new beauty brand and now she’s clapping back against body shaming trolls too.
While it sucks, we’ve sadly come to nearly expect ignorant comments about people’s bodies online. One person recently decided to take aim at Rae, writing in a tweet, “Just realized how fat Addison Rae is. The rolls… Glad I cannot relate.” A gross, fatphobic comment by any standard.
The body shamer was swiftly put in their place, however, with Rae’s great response. “Rolls are just as normal as anything else on the stomach. Love your body! Your body is unique and beautiful,” the 19-year-old wrote back, signing off her message with a heart.
It’s not the first time Rae has had some thoughtful responses to body shaming. Earlier this year she came to her friend and fellow TikToker Charli D’Amelio’s defence after people wouldn’t stop commenting on her body. (For the record, it’s bad when anyone has to deal with scrutiny over their body but D’Amelio is 16-years-old.)
“It is not your job to judge the appearance of another persons face and/or body,” she tweeted. “I always see people say ‘welcome to the real world’ or ‘stop being so sensitive’ when someone is hurt by the words of others….when we really should be telling the person who said it to stop feeling the need to judge another persons image/life decisions.”
She’s right and she should say it!
