Troye Sivan is legit blooming on his second album and we’re here for it

Bow down, world.

Troye Sivan’s second album, Bloom, has the perfect balance between saucy and sweet. The 23-year-old gets hella cheeky about sex in the title track, while he bares his soul in ‘The Good Side’. This record comes three years after the release of his first baby, Blue Neighbourhood, but Troye reveals that he didn’t feel pressure when it came to creating his second album.

“[The pressure] was way trumped by excitement to get into the studio,” Troye tells Girlfriend.

“I had so many ideas and had heard so much music that really inspired me and had had so many life experiences that really inspired me that it was more like ‘I just feel ready to go’ and I feel better equipped to make something better this time.”

The process of getting older between records also played a part for Troye. “I write best when I’m comfortable and so feeling a little bit less out of my depth really allowed me to just relax and enjoy the process a lot more,” he says.

“I think you can kind of feel that lightness in the music, I think you can hear us have fun. There are moments on the album that kind of feel a little… I don’t want to say silly, but in ‘Bloom’, for example, in the bridge, it’s got this weird computer voice that was like my friend and I just messing around and like in ‘Dance To This’, the bridge is this weird spoken thing in my voice and we were just having fun.”

While Troye collaborated with our fave girl Ariana Grande on the track ‘Dance To This’, he also teamed up with Aussie musician Gordi on ‘Postcard’.

“I’m a huge fan [of Gordi],” Troye says. “It was mentioned to me that she was in LA and we could write together and I jumped at the opportunity and it was actually the first song that I wrote for the album.”
