In great news for those who love to hog the role of DJ, Spotify is releasing two new features that will change our playlists for the better.

We’ve all been there, on a car trip or getting ready for a girl’s night out, arguing with our best friends over who gets to choose the music.

One friend is a die-hard KPop fan, one wants the Taylor Swift discography, another is randomly requesting ABBA. But Spotify has come up with an answer.

Blend started as a beta program last June, an innovative new feature that allowed users to merge their musical tastes into one shared playlist with their pals.

So, just as Spotify gives you your Daily Mixes and other song suggestions, this feature will collate your streaming habits with whoever you invite to the playlist.

This means no more arguments over who gets to choose the music – the playlist has officially been democratised!

You can also invite more than one person to blend – the playlists can hold up to 10 different people and their preferences.

The experience also has new cover art for identifying your Blend playlists and taste match scores to see listening preferences alongside your mates, so you can easily call out the friends who have poor taste.

But wait, there’s more!

Blend is also letting you make curated playlists with some of your favourite artists, which will give you some pretty rare insights into their creative influences.

Artists like BTS, Charli XCX, Megan Thee Stallion, Diplo, Kacey Musgraves and more are all joining the Blend feature, allowing you to make playlists alongside them.

You can access these Blends here by clicking the link in each of the artist’s names, and letting Spotify do the rest. A curated playlist will pop up, which shows which contributions are yours, which ones come from the artist, and which ones you match on, which is some pretty fun knowledge to have, especially if you want to know what songs BTS have been listening to lately.

Go forth and listen!
