We don’t wanna alarm anyone, but there’s a rumour circulating under the sea as well as online that Nickelodeon classic SpongeBob SquarePants is ending next month.
A recent tweet from what looked like the official SpongeBob SquarePants account revealed that the series had been cancelled, causing mass panic across the internet.
“Unfortunately, our show will be coming to a final end as of March 1st, 2018,” the tweet reads.
“It’s been a long ride, and we are very grateful for all of the fans worldwide that have shown support throughout the years, none of this would have been possible without you.”
But DW, Sponge fans, it turns out the tweet was 3000% fake!
The show’s *actual* official Twitter account, @SpongeBob, has not tweeted anything about a cancellation.
Last year, Entertainment Weekly reported that Nickelodeon ordered 26 more episodes of the show, renewing it through 2019.
