It’s always incredibly risky for a celebrity to open up to a publication and let them in on some personal details of their lives… but it’s all their fans crave.

Just recently, Shawn Mendes opened up to Rolling Stone magazine about some very revealing aspects of his own life, and Shawn isn’t at all happy with how it turned out.

Sharing a photo of the cover on his Instagram, Shawn wrote, “Of course i have my insecurities and struggles but that’s just one part of me. Sometimes the positive side of a story doesn’t always get fully told and I wish it had here. I love what i do and i love you guys so much ❤️.”

So, what exactly could he be referring to?

Well, there’s a lot that the interview covers. For one, it explores Shawn’s sexuality.

“In the back of my heart, I feel like I need to go be seen with someone — like a girl — in public, to prove to people that I’m not gay,” he explained. “Even though in my heart I know that it’s not a bad thing. There’s still a piece of me that thinks that. And I hate that side of me.”

In 2017 Shawn read comments on YouTube that assumed he was gay. At the time, he addressed the rumours on Snapchat. “I noticed a lot of people were saying I gave them a ‘gay vibe,’” he said. “First of all, I’m not gay. Second of all, it shouldn’t make a difference if I was or wasn’t.”

Or maybe… it’s how he basically confirms that Hailey Baldwin is the one that got away

When Shawn found out that Hailey and Justin Bieber had gotten engaged, he texted her straight away.

“I texted Hailey, ‘Congratulations,’ and I really am happy for them. She’s still one of the f–king coolest people ever — she’s not just a beautiful person visually, but she’s one of the most beautiful hearts I’ve ever met…I think I’m an idiot to not, you know…but you can’t control your heart.”

OR, maybe it’s how he revealed that he is a weed lover.

“I love weed,” he admitted. “It’s really good for me. When I’m home, I’ll smoke and then play guitar for seven hours.” (In the same breath he revealed he’d be down to try shrooms, and that those would also “help [him] a lot.”)

Who knows what it could be, but his fans have rallied behind him after hearing his disappointment with the interview.

“be strong baby! you livin in this industry just for the music, not for the drama. we stand with you!” One fan commented.

“Always be true to yourself❤️ I love you,” said another.

“I love you and I will always be by your side.”
