There’s a reason why there were celebrities dressed as the Pope/literal angels/virgin Mary’s all over your feed yesterday: it was the Met Gala, and the theme was ‘heavenly bodies’.
But somehow, Selena Gomez translated that too ‘I’m gonna do blackface.’
While Selena usually nails a red carpet look, she really missed the mark yesterday after debuting skin that was about 500 times darker than it usually is.
We’re all about a fake tan, but girl, this was too far.

Aside from noticing her gorgeous curls or flowy Coach dress, fans were quick to call Selena out for being offensive.

Selena’s makeup artist Hung Vanngo did her makeup, so we can’t blame it on it being a new artist that wasn’t used to Selena’s natural skin tone either.

In the past, Hung has done Selena’s makeup and done it properly to her tone. For example:
Personally, I believe they were going for a cherubic cupid look that fits in perfectly with the theme of yesterday.

But as you can see from the painting above, there is literally no need for skin darkening.
