It’s happened. Miley Cyrus has performed her emotional single “Slide Away” which details her divorce from Liam Hemsworth, at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards.
We’re just going to sum it up in one word: Ouch.
WATCH Miley Cyrus emotionally sings her divorce ballad “Slide Away” at the 2019 MTV VMAs, her first public appearance since the heartbreaking split:
The three-and-a-half-minute ballad, which was released only a few days after their break-up had made headlines, reflects on her split from Liam Hemsworth, calling for a healthier and happier life without him.
The lyrics hint that it was Liam’s drinking and drug problem that led to their divorce.
However, during her performance, it seems that Miley changed some of the lyrics to shade Liam further.
What was originally, “You’re right, we’re grown now,” she changed to “I’m grown now”.
Burn.
Miley, 26, kept her eyes closed while she sang the song, surrounded by violinists.
The emotional song already has an accompanying music video, which is also a black and white production.
SAD!
