Married At First Sight producers have many tricks up their sleeves to ensure the contestants do as they say and create ‘quality’ content for Australia to watch… but we never thought it’d come down to bribes.

It is essentially in producers’ hands how a contestant is portrayed on television, and knowing how an entire nation can turn on you if you’re bathed in a negative light, the brides and grooms will pretty much do anything to look good on TV.

2020 groom Jonethen Musulin is the fourth contestant to come forward and expose what actually happens behind the scenes, fed up with how he’s coming across on the show.

Jonethen has gone against all of Nine’s rules and told New Idea that his relationship with Connie Craydon was completely fake!

After the FIFO worker was unable to grow feelings for his TV bride, and learning of his father’s deteriorating health, he allegedly ‘begged’ producers to let him quit the show, but they weren’t so ready to give up on Jon’s story line.

“I told producers that I was leaving and that there was nothing they could do about it,” he told New Idea.

“They had already lost so many contestants so that’s when they said to me, ‘What can we do to make you stay?'”

Producers ended up offering Jonethen a secret deal which ensured he stayed in the experiment, and that he could also fly home.

“I got the terms of my contract rewritten halfway through,” Jonethen continued. “Connie didn’t care … She was just happy that I was still there.”

Unfortunately for Connie, a New Idea insider claims she was pressured into writing ‘stay’ for multiple commitment ceremonies.

“[Two producers] pulled Connie aside for over two hours and they made her rewrite what she had written on her card,” the source explained.

“They stood over her and put pressure on her to write ‘stay’ instead of ‘leave’. Connie came out and she had been crying. It was a very harrowing situation for her and filming was delayed for 2.5 hours that night because of it all.”

Now, Connie has no qualms in waiting for her story to come to an end for the show and for the viewers before showing off that she has a new boyfriend. The 27-year-old was recently spotted with her new boyfriend on an intimate beach date!

Good for her! The former bride was spotted in photographs captured by New Idea looking extremely happy, a vast difference to how she has come across on MAFS with Jonethen.
