Justin and Hailey Bieber are one of the most famous couples in the world, but despite their fame and fortune, they struggle with ‘normal relationship problems’, just like the rest of us.

It’s refreshing, to say the least… especially how candid they were speaking to Vogue in their cover story. Opening up to the magazine, the pair went very deep and personal about their sex life, Justin’s past struggles with sex addiction and drugs, the issues they still face, and even religion.

It’s eye-opening, so here are the most important parts to take away from it all:

SEX

Sex was a big topic the pair discussed in the interview, especially Justin. In fact, he even alluded to the fact that he married Hailey just so he could have sex with her… in a way.

In 2013-2014, Justin was struggling with sex addiction… (so much so that he was visiting brothels in Brazil when he was 19), so he decided to be celibate to try move past it all.

“I think sex can cause a lot of pain,” he said. Then Hailey came back into his life.

“When I saw her last June, I just forgot how much I loved her and how much I missed her and how much of a positive impact she made on my life,” he said. “I was like, Holy cow, this is what I’ve been looking for.” It made him realise he wanted to have sex again, but apparently, he wanted to be married first, so they went to the courthouse and signed the papers.

DRUG ADDICTION

Sex wasn’t the only addiction Justin was dealing with. In those same years from 2013 – 2014, he admits to abusing Xanax. This was before he decided to go celibate.

“I found myself doing things that I was so ashamed of, being super-promiscuous and stuff, and I think I used Xanax because I was so ashamed,” he said. He even started to fear his life. “It got pretty dark. I think there were times when my security was coming in late at night to check my pulse and see if I was still breathing.”

Wow.

THE BREAK-UP

As we know, Hailey and Justin broke up once before. And they’re still dealing with that, despite being married.

“The thing is, marriage is very hard,” Hailey said in the article. Since getting married, they’ve had to deal with how they handled things the first time they split up, which apparently was a HUGE blow-up.

“Negative things happened that we still need to talk about and work through,” she said. “Fizzled would not be the right word—it was more like a very dramatic excommunication. There was a period where if I walked into a room, he would walk out.”

LIVING TOGETHER

Now, they can, of course, be in the same room together! But those rooms have also caused them problems. The pair has bought a house in Toronto, but it’s led to issues.

According to the article, their new home has led to huge fights, but they’re going to counseling to work through them.

Hailey has had her own problems too, admitting that at first, she struggled with being Justin’s wife. She was homesick and lonely and was also dealing with internet trolls wanting her marriage to fail.

“I prayed to feel peace about the decision, and that’s where I landed,” she said. “I love him very much. I have loved him for a long time.”

And that’s the one thing they can count on, love. It’s obvious that Justin and Hailey are secure enough in their relationship to be able to share their problems with the world like this, which we’re hoping everyone can completely respect.

Just like every relationship, it takes work, and clearly, these two are willing to do it to stay together!

“I’m not going to sit here and lie and say it’s all a magical fantasy,” Hailey said. “It’s always going to be hard. It’s a choice. You don’t feel it every single day.

“You don’t wake up every day saying, ‘I’m absolutely so in love and you are perfect.’ That’s not what being married is. But there’s something beautiful about it anyway—about wanting to fight for something, commit to building with someone.

“We’re really young, and that’s a scary aspect. We’re going to change a lot. But we’re committed to growing together and supporting each other in those changes. That’s how I look at it. At the end of the day, too, he’s my best friend. I never get sick of him.”

Amen sister.
