It seems that the theme of 2017 has been celebrities reuniting with their exes (Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, The Weeknd and Bella Hadid etc) and John Mayer will be damned if he’s gonna show up to the party not in-theme!
The singer (famous for being the inspo behind Taylor Swift‘s scathing track “Dear John”) has revealed that he has gotten in touch with his ex-bae Katy Perry whom he dated on-and-off from 2012 to 2016.
During his appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Mayer was asked if he watched Katy Perry’s infamous 96-hour-long live stream from a few months back.
“That’s her thing, man, to go big and bold. I checked in with it. It’s definitely odd to watch your ex-girlfriend sleep,” he responded.
He added: “The way I see things now, I call it stand in the middle of the boat. If someone says, ‘I don’t watch that.’ It’s like, yes, you do.”
He went on to reveal that he texted his ex at 4am (as you do) to wish her a HBD.
“I texted Katy ‘Happy Birthday,’ and it was four in the morning. It was a post-midnight haven’t gone to sleep yet. It’s technically your birthday send,” he explained.
“How weird is it to be like, ‘Oh, I want to say Happy Birthday now, but I’m going to wait till tomorrow afternoon?’ Text when you want to text, watch when you want to watch. Be human about it.”
Kudos to John for checking in on his former bae to make sure she’s all g ‘coz tbh, we’ve all been V. worried!
