“We’re proud to be part of Cameron Boyce’s legacy by showcasing his talents on screen, but we are cancelling the red carpet premiere event for Descendants 3 (scheduled for July 22),” a statement read. “And instead, The Walt Disney Company will make a donation to the Thirst Project, a philanthropic organization to which Cameron was deeply committed.”

The Thirst project “is a nonprofit organization that works with the support of young people to END the global water crisis by building freshwater wells in developing communities that need safe, clean drinking water,” reads the organisation’s website.

Descendants 3 will premiere on the Disney Channel August 2, which will be dedicated the young actor, who plays Carlos — Cruella de Vil’s son.

The Disney actor passed away at age 20, in his sleep over the weekend. He suffered from a fatal seizure which was caused by his ongoing battle with epilepsy.

Since the star passed, co-stars have paid tribute to him. One highly emotional video was posted by his Descendants co-star Dove Cameron.

Boyce’s family released a statement following his passing:

“It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron,” said a spokesperson on behalf of the family.

“He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated. The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him.

“We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother.”

Boyce led a humble life, dedicated himself to charity in his most recent years.

Last year he was honoured with the Pioneering Spirit Award at the Thirst Gala, which is sponsored by the Thirst Project – a nonprofit organisation where Boyce raised $30,000 to build wells for clean drinking water in Swaziland.

Cameron Boyce made his acting debut in the horror movie Mirrors, at just 9-years-old. He was then cast in Adam Sandler’s movie Grown Ups two years later as one of Adam’s kids.
It was when he landed a lead role in the Disney channel show Jessie starring as Luke Ross that he gained stardom. He starred alongside Jessie Prescott, played by Debby Ryan.

“From a young age, Cameron Boyce dreamed of sharing his extraordinary artistic talents with the world. As a young man, he was fueled by a strong desire to make a difference in peoples’ lives through his humanitarian work,” a Disney Channel spokesperson said. “He was an incredibly talented performer, a remarkably caring and thoughtful person and, above all else, he was a loving and dedicated son, brother, grandson and friend.

“We offer our deepest condolences to his family, castmates and colleagues and join his many millions of fans in grieving his untimely passing. He will be dearly missed.”
