Over the weekend, Mac Miller passed away from a suspected drug overdose at age 26.
It was a shock to everyone – especially ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande – and other artists who have been sharing support for the late rapper ever since.
Drake dedicated his Boston show for “The Aubrey and Three Migos Tour” to Mac. “Tonight, I want to dedicate this show to my late friend Mac Miller, who was always a kind man to me through this whole journey,” Drake said before singing “Emotionless” from his album Scorpion.
Fellow rapper G-Eazy honoured Mac during his “Endless Summer” tour at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa, performing an emotional rendition of his Kehlani collaboration “Everything Will Be OK”, while a photo of Mac was displayed on the screen.
“Performed everything will be ok for you tonight and f=*ckin broke down on stage,” he later wrote on Instagram. “Rest peacefully bro, we miss you.”
Even the great Elton John dedicated his show to Mac, while performing in Allentown for his “Yellow Brick Road Tour,” which saw Elton shouting a dedication of “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me” to Mac.
“I would like to dedicate this song to Mac Miller, who unbelievably, at 26 years of age, passed away yesterday,” he said at his piano. “It’s inconceivable that someone as young that has so much talent can do that. I would like to pass all of our love and best wishes to his loved ones, his family, his friends. And Mac, wherever you are, I hope you are happy now.”
