Everything you need to know about Riverdale Season 3

We. Cannot. Wait.

Literally NO ONE was shocked when it was announced that Riverdale would be returning for a third season.

Fans (aka everyone) immediately went into overdrive trying to find out all the juicy deets about what will happen next in the town with pep.

Well, your prayers have been answered. We’ve put together a list of everything we know so far – and we’ll keep updating you as we know more.

When will the new season air?

Mark your calendar for October 11 people!

CW announced it will air the first episode in the US on October 10, which means we’ll probably get the first ep on Thursday, October 11 in Oz.

How many episodes will there be?

Given the success of season two, we’re looking at 22 glorious episodes again this time round.

Sadly they’ll still be released week-by-week, meaning we’ll have no choice but to go back at binge watch seasons one and two (for the 100th time!) to give us our fix.

Has production already started?

Hell yes it has! Skeet Ulrich (FP Jones) first revealed production had started when speaking at PeopleCon’s first ever RiverCon in Paris, saying filming was happening in Vancouver, Canada.

Riverdale writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa also tweeted that he was thrilled to be working with the ‘incredible cast and crew’.

KJ Apa has since been seen sporting his bright red locks again on Instagram, while Cole Sprouse has gone back to black to play Jughead.

From the looks of the image posted by Aguirre-Scasa, we’ll be seeing Archie defending himself in court after being arrested at the end of last season.

Are there new characters?

Sure is! We revealed last week that Riverdale was casting for the roles of Edgar and Evelyn Evernever.

They are a father-daughter duo who move to the town of Riverdale.

It looks like Edgar will be the same person Polly Cooper mentions helped her get over Jason Blossom‘s death from ‘the farm’.

And while it hasn’t been said outright, we all know Polly is in a weird cult and that things are about to get dramatic AF.

Evelyn will be spending all her time trying to get close to Betty, which we all know spells trouble for the Cooper fam.

There’s also rumours swirling that we’ll finally get to meet Jughead’s mum and little sister Jelly Bean.

What new romances are in store?

If KJ were in charge, there’d be a relationship between Archie and Kevin. While speaking at Oz Comic Con last month, he was asked what he thought about a Karchie/Arvin union.

‘Love it, let’s go,’ KJ replied.

WE SHIP KARCHIE SO HARD!

But Riverdale creator Aguirre-Sacasa actually hinted at a different romantic relationship for Kevin, saying he hoped to explore the connection between Kevin and Moose more in season three.

“My hope is that it continues,” he said

“It’d be nice to see Kevin in a romance again. But they’ve got a big cloud looming over them, which is the death of Midge. I’m rooting for them. I hope it’s more than just a moment of passion.”

We’re so excited to see what happens with Cheryl and Toni, too.

Will we see more of any fringe characters?

We sure will! Riverdale’s resident bad boy Reggie Mantle (played by Ross Butler, then Charles Melton in season two) has usually only appeared as a guest character, but Aguirre-Sacasa confirmed he has been promoted to a series regular.

“We will see more and more Reggie in Season 3,” Aguirre-Sacasa said. YAS!

It’s also believed Polly Cooper will play a bigger role. At the end of season two, she was talking to Alice and Betty about forgiving Hal so they didn’t meet the same fate as their Black Hood family member.

“I think I have someone who can help you, mom,’ Polly says.

‘A friend of mine, from the farm, who healed me when I was so broken after Jason.”

We are left with Polly giving her mum a creepy AF look, so we just know she’ll be causing trouble when the Evernever’s come to town.

While the actors set to play Evelyn and Edgar has yet to be announced, we just know they are going to be epic.
