We all know Ed Sheeran is the king of writing soppy love songs that can make any girl swoon. But now one of those sweet tunes has caused him a whole lotta trouble!

Ed has now been slapped with a $100 million lawsuit by a company claiming he ripped off Marvin Gaye’s classic song ‘Let’s Get It On’ when he wrote his hit ‘Thinking Out Loud.’

Ummmm, WHAT!?

According to TMZ, the lawsuit says Ed’s song has the “same melody, rhythms, harmonies, drums, bassline, backing chorus, tempo, syncopation and looping as ‘Let’s Get it On.’”

The company, called Structured Asset Sales, is asking for $100 million because it says that’s what one-third of the OG song is worth.

It’s not the first time Ed’s had to deal with complaints about this song. Back in 2016 co-writer of Marvin Gaye’s song, Ed Townsend, sued over the similarities.

But Ed called BS on the whole thing at the time, saying the chord progression and drum pattern were ‘extremely commonplace’ and could be found in lots of songs.

Have a listen below for yourself. Good luck Ed!
