Shawn Mendes may be ~totally famous~, but that doesn’t mean that everyone knows who he is.
Especially Drake’s security team.
Shawn recently revealed while on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon that when attending The Weeknd’s show in Toronto, he saw Drake and wanted to say hi.
He notes that they have met before. “[I thought] he must remember me from previous experiences… like twice,” Shawn recounted.
“So I go over to him and touch his side. Next thing I know I’m in the middle of The Weeknd show with my arm hooked behind my back,” revealing that Drake’s security guard was “6’6″ and 300 pounds.”
Luckily, Drake noticed what happened and it all ended up okay.
“I see Drake look over… in my eyes, I knew it was like, ‘Help me, please Drake!’ In that moment, if he didn’t know who I was it would’ve just been the most embarrassing! I don’t know what I would’ve done. I would’ve been in jail!”
He added that he knows the security team were just doing their job, but he added that the experience was “terrifying.”
“Don’t expect everybody to know who you are,” he ended it with.
