Drake has been completely thrown under the bus by rapper Pusha T this week, and it’s pretty damn brutal.
The rapper released a song “The Story of Adidon” which completely aims it’s loaded gun Drake, criticising his family, friends, and even exposed him to having a child with French pornstar Sophie Busseaux.
But the nail on the coffin was Pusha T using a very real image of Drake using blackface for the track artwork.
Drake has now come out and addressed the blackface issue in a lengthy post on Instagram stories.
“This picture is from 2007, a time in my life where I was an actor and I was working on a project that was about black actors struggling to get roles, being stereotyped and type cast,” he wrote.
“Me and my best friend at the time Mazin Elsadig who is also an actor from Sudan were attempting to use our voice to bring awareness to the issues we dealt with all the time as black actors at auditions.”
Yikes.
Of course, there has been an onslaught of reactions on Twitter.
In the photo, Drake is also wearing clothes from the label Too Black Guys. The founder of the company, Adrian Aitcheson, has come out in a statement to say that the photo was not a Too Black Guys photoshoot. But, he explains how Drake was “brilliantly illustrating the hypocrisy of the Jim Crow era”.
