Demi Lovato is currently under major fire from fans, after making light of sexual assault.
After a fan asked her the “funniest prank you’ve ever pulled?” Demi replied, “I hired a lady of the night in Vegas and sent her to Max’s hotel room to surprise him. She walked into his room without permission and grabbed him in his ‘area’ and he freaked the f*ck out hahahahaha.”
K hun, no.
Fans immediately started bombarding Demi with comments about how this is sexual assault, and just because it was a ‘prank’ pulled on a guy, it doesn’t make it okay.
It started to annoy fans even more, after Demi then tweeted, “I swear I could tweet something about craving jelly beans and it would offend someone.”
Uhhh.
“UhhHHH why does she think sexual assault is a funny prank,” one fan wrote.
“I don’t think you understand how men are conditioned to normalise sexual assault,” another fan began. “They are always expected to just laugh it off and if they ever say anything they’re told to get over it. If it was a woman, a hashtag would already be trending.”
After the wild backlash, Demi then did apologise.
“For all those coming at me rn, listen to the lyrics of Warrior and maybe you’ll have more compassion for someone who made a simple mistake. Of all the people I know about sexual abuse. You don’t have to educate me.
“So sorry if anyone was offended.”
Yikes.
However, after her apology, she then went and told an offended fan to “get over it”.
After an account posted her tweet, writing in the caption how offended they were, Demi commented, “Oh get over it. It’s deleted.”
Ahh, not the best way to move on from a bad situation Dems…
