We’re all well aware of the many friendship groups in Hollywood. There’s Taylor’s #girlsquad comprising of everyone from Selena Gomez and Blake Lively to Lily Aldrige and Lorde. Then there’s the slightly more alternative group of Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Schumer, Emma Stone and Adele. But, what about those obscure celebrity friendships, like Ed Sheeran and Courtney Cox? Yeah, it’s a thing…
Jessica Williams + JK Rowling
The babin Jessica Williams is a hardcore Harry Potter fan and was hella shook when the author, J.K. Rowling, started following her on Twitter. J.K. then slid into Jessica’s DMs to wish her a happy birthday (the pair share the same birthday!) and the pair stayed in contact. They met up for the first time last year and are now besties. And, Jessica is even starring in the next Fantastic Beasts movie, in which J.K. is the author.
Jenna Dewan + Janet Jackson
We all know that Jenna Dewan is an amazing dancer, but did you know she actually started out as a backup dancer? One of the first jobs she landed when she was 19 years old was as Janet Jackson’s backup dancer! Jenna was originally hired to dance in Janet’s music video for the song ‘Doesn’t Really Matter’ and was eventually asked to accompany her on tour, where the pair became friends. Jenna recently revealed that early on in her job with Janet, the singer gifted all of her dancers with a box of vibrators for Valentine’s Day. Cool.
Ed Sheeran + Courtney Cox
While the friendship between singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran and actor Courtney Cox might seem odd, the pair actually goes way back. When Ed was writing his second album, X in 2014, Courtney let him crash at her Malibu home for free – can we be Court’s friend too?! But, Ed more than earned his keep around the house, by making his bed (and cups of tea) every day and he also introduced Courtney to her now partner Johnny McDaid, from the band Snow Patrol. Casual.
50 Cent + Bette Midler
Probably the most bizarre friendship ever is that between 50 Cent and Broadway star Bette Midler. Despite the 30-year age difference, the pair hit it off when they first met back in 2008 during a charity event in New York. “He’s one of the newest members of our tribe. He’s really made my life worth living,” Bette said at the time.
Khloe Kardashian + Cheryl Cole
How these two babes became friends is kinda confusing. And, they’ve been besties for YEARS now. Khloe posted a #WCW (Woman Crush Wednesday) dedicated to Cheryl back in 2014 and Cheryl posted a lovely tribute to Khloe for her birthday the next year. The pair also publicly congratulated each other on the announcement of their pregnancies. So, while we don’t know how or why these guys became friends, we ship it.
Jordyn Woods + Jaden Smith
If you thought that Jordy was just Kylie Jenner’s BFF, then we are here to tell you that she’s also besties with Jaden Smith. In fact, the pair has been friends since they were legit babies! Jaden’s dad Will Smith recently posted a throwback pic of Jaden and Jordyn when they were little cute kids to celebrate Jaden’s 20th birthday.
Chrissy Teigen + Jesse Tyler Ferguson
If we could be besties with any celebs, we’d probably pick Chrissy Teigen. And, Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson is lucky enough to be one of Chrissy’s close pals. Jesse even attended Chrissy’s baby shower back in April with his husband Justin Mitika, alongside Chrissy’s other friends including celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin, Kim Kardashian and Kayne West. While we don’t exactly know how Chrissy and Jesse became friends, it seems they have been buddies since at least 2015.
All we can say is #squadgoals.
