Over the weekend, the internet went into panic mode as Pete Davidson posted an alarming message that alluded to suicide.

“i really don’t want to be on this earth anymore,” he wrote in the now-deleted message. “i’m doing my best to stay here for you but i actually don’t know how much longer i can last. all i’ve ever tried to do was help people. just remember i told you so.”
As soon as the message was sent, Ariana Grande rushed to his side, and celebrities alike were showing support for him.
i don’t want to specifically tie this to anything, but everything that’s going on with pete davidson is so heartbreaking and really points to the backwards, dark nature of our society that we’ve built. we’re so addicted to controversy, and we don’t want to feel pain, so we try to

prayers for Pete Davidson. not cause it’s a Twitter trend. not cause you do or don’t “stan” him. because he’s a human with a heart who’s hurting and has to do it in front of millions of people- which can truly be the loneliest place. you’re valued Pete. we want you here.

Pete Davidson … hang in there. There is a lot of help out here. Surrender to some love some where around you … today! Right now! And then … let in the help that will become available. I’m praying for you Pete. I’ve been there. It gets better.

Point being. Pete Davidson has been very open about his mental health. And b/c a relationship didn’t work out, tens of thousands of people he doesn’t know are telling him to kill himself.

Words have real consequences. And the people who bullied him into posting this? Shame. pic.twitter.com/lUCpahlG5u
One of Pete’s good friends, rapper Machine Gun Kelly tweeted at the time that he was on his pay to Pete immediately.
Get you a friend who will fly across the country to make sure you’re good when you feel like you’re losing yourself. Get you a Machine Gun Kelly. pic.twitter.com/PpyMbEMzTs

After reportedly receiving multiple calls at the time, the New York Times stated that police officers completed a welfare check on Pete, and that he was “accounted for.”
