Since the devastating Manchester Attacks in 2017, Ariana Grande has been working so hard to try and bring as much light to her fans affected by the events.
She’s done everything from hospital visits, organised the One Love Manchester concert to raise money for the victim’s families, dedicated songs and tattoos to the fans, and has now written another song about her own healing journey.
The Manchester Attacks left their awful mark on everyone, and Ariana Grande has spoken about how her music has also been influenced by the attacks, too.
She tole Elle, “You hear about these things. You see it on the news, you tweet the hashtag. It’s happened before and it’ll happen again. It makes you sad, you think about it for a little, and then people move on”.
Ariana also mentioned that the experience had changed her way of thinking and understanding.
“Everything is different,” she said.
Her newest album, Sweetener, is getting closer to its release date, and the set list has been dropped.
Ariana announced the set list on her Instagram with a screenshot of the list on her Notes.
Not pictured here are the times for every song, but you’ll have to see their individual timings to know why this is important.
At first glance, everything seems normal, until you see the song, “Get Well Soon”.
The song’s duration is 5:22, which is the exact date of the attack; May 22nd.
It could just be a coincidence, but consider also that the lyrics she has written reflect the horrible attacks.
The lyrics include, “They say my system is overloaded / Girl, what’s wrong with you? Come back down.”
In the same interview with Elle, Ariana said that “Get Well Soon”, was about how the attack affected her, and “all the voices in my head talking to one another.”
She also said to The Fader that she wanted to try and help both herself and her fans heal, and that she wanted to make sure they were all healing together.
“There are parts of my life that they would love to know about”, she spoke about including her fans into her healing, “hard times that I have been dealing with for the past year and a half that they deserve to know about because they love me endlessly and care. I don’t want to hide any pain from them, because I can relate to their pain. Why not be in it together?”
The lyrics from “Get Well Soon” haven’t been released online other than a small sample, but they will be available when Sweetener is dropped on August 17th.
