Mac Miller died on Friday at the age of 26, reportedly from a suspected drug overdose. Ariana and Mac broke up this year after two years of dating. Ariana then got engaged to Pete Davidson.

At the time of their break up, Ariana posted a sweet message to Mac saying that he was one of her “best friends” and “favourite people”.

Two weeks later, Ariana called their relationship “toxic”, responding to a fan who blamed Mac’s DUI on their break up.

“I have cared for him and tried to support his sobriety and prayed for his balance for years (and always will of course) but shaming / blaming women for a man’s inability to keep his shit together is a very major problem,” she wrote at the time.

Ariana’s fans have of course come to her defence online.

Not long after, Ariana posted a silent tribute to Mac Miller by posting a black and white shot of him on Instagram.
