Baby Driver and future Only Fans star Ansel Elgort just called all of y’all on stan Twitter “legitimately crazy.”
FYI, we love Harry Styles here. He’s an absolute fashion king, has a gorgeous voice and smile, and, next to Zayn Malik’s and Bella Hadid’s baby news, is without a doubt the breakout star of the One Direction crew. And, anytime he posts, we feel a little giddy inside, retweet him, make fancams and simply, have nothing else to do but stan.
But, uh, according to Baby Driver and future Only Fans star Ansel Elgort, all of us on stan Twitter are “legitimately crazy.”
Look, we won’t lie, sometimes we can take it too far. Sometimes we think, fuck it: I’m a make a thread of Harry Styles as a comfy, cosy couch, bars of soap (scrubba dub dub with Styles, anyone?), Animal Crossing villagers or as different screenshots of Pascal, the little shy chameleon from Disney’s Tangled. Yes it’s extremely weird in and out of context but it’s all in good fun and partly why I love stan Twitter so much.
On 7th May at 12:18pm AEST, twitter user @arcadehes tweeted an anime screenshot of someone holding a love letter addressed as “all my love for u” at Mr. Styles. The caption read, “you don’t know how happy you make me everyday. I wish I can meet you one day and hug you, follow me please? I love you!”
Minutes later, at 12:20pm AEST, the Fault In Our Stars actor retweeted the Harry Styles stan’s tweet, commenting, “ppl r legitimately crazy on this app,” later adding in a reply that Harry Styles “is not even on here lol.”
And naturally, people kinda lost their shit. First of all, how did Elgort even find that tweet? What’s wrong with someone sharing their love for their fave and just, like, y’know, stanning? These are the questions that have kept me up at night.
As Elgort puts it, he’s fascinated by stan Twitter. He previously used the app to follow stan accounts and exp their raw chaotic energy. While that’s fair and perf valid, attacking someone because of their completely harmless tweet and love for their celeb is just, so odd and not it chief.
