‘13 Reasons Why’ actors issue a warning video for season 2

“This series may not be right for you.”

13 Reasons Why took the world by complete storm when it debuted on Netflix in 2017.

People either loved or hated the series. It was either praised for starting a conversation in mainstream media about issues such as mental health, bullying and sexual assault. Others were concerned that it romanticised those themes, as well as giving people ideas.

But despite the backlash, season 2 is going ahead.

However, to help with how triggering the show can be, actors such as Dylan Minnette, Katherine Langford, Alisha Boe and Justin Prentice have recorded a warning video.

The Hollywood Reporter uploaded the video, where the actors encourage people to either watch the show with a trusted adult, give it a miss completely, or reach out for support.

It also offers a link directing to the 13ReasonsWhy.Info website.

Netflix original series vice president Brian Wright told The Hollywood Reporter that the new warning video addition won’t change anything in the series, but that the results of a recent study has urged them to make this change.

“The content of the show hasn’t changed, but the research showed that people are craving more information and they are craving help,” he said. “I’ve always felt this show had the ability to start a really important dialogue. I do think that’s what we saw born out of season one and through the research — that it made people talk.”

Since the video’s release, people have had their thoughts about it.
