This Mum Cancelled Her Family Disney Trip Because Of ‘Beauty And The Beast’s Gay Character

Apparently it doesn't "accurately align with her personal beliefs."

Russia is considering a nationwide ban of the film and a U.S. cinema refuses to play it, now there’s more disappointing backlash over LeFou’s (Josh Gad) little crush on Gaston (Luke Evans) in Beauty and the Beast.

Despite people everywhere applauding Disney for making history with this “exclusively gay moment,” others are now boycotting Disney, including a Christian mum blogger in the States.

Brooke Poston — A.K.A. ‘This Modest Mom’ — recently wrote a post titled “Disney’s LGBT agenda forced me to cancel our Disney World vacation,” where she said she’s cancelling her trip to the theme park with her husband and two kids because of the movie’s groundbreaking gay scene (which is a blink-and-you’ll-miss it moment FYI). She wrote:

“I’m not paying for simple entertainment that doesn’t accurately align with my personal beliefs. Disney isn’t just aiming their efforts towards parents of Disney-aged children anymore. They are pointing a desperate finger at the innocence of our youth. Disney is targeting our youth like they’re aiming at big game on a corporate hunting trip. They are banking on corrupting the purity of a child’s mind for the 1%. They are no longer making watching a choice, but by forcing it to become mainstream, Disney is telling the conservative family, the Christian public, that they’re views hold no worth. In jest, they’re subtly encouraging you to conform your ways. (Mark 13:22)”

Brooke added that she’s worried Disney will carry over its “agenda” from the film into its theme parks, something she says she does not support.

The post, which was shared on the blog’s Facebook page, quickly went viral, with many calling her decision to cancel her trip and boycott Disney “disgusting” and “pathetic.”

Realising all the backlash, Brooke wrote a follow-up post, where she expressed her shock at the negative reaction to her last post and that she’d even received hate mail for the first time. According to her most recent Instagram post, she’s even been getting death threats!

The Huffington Post also contacted the blogger to get her thoughts on all the intense criticism and she sent them a lengthy email

“There is no denying that the majority of reactions to my post have made me out to be a person filled with hate and disgust,” Brooke wrote. “Even through this, my views have not changed.”

“Know that whoever you are and however you identify, I have only compassion for you,” she continued. “We may not be fighting for the same things, we may not be fighting together, but know that we are each passionate for our own causes. Because of this I cannot be silent.”
